Instructional Technology Services Division

The Instructional Technology Support Services Division provides a variety of services and resources to the 27 school districts in Erie 2-Chautauqua-Cattaraugus BOCES, as well as to additional districts and BOCES across New York State. Programs in this Division include:

Cooperative Equipment

This service provides districts with a coordinated, cooperative program for acquiring instructional equipment. A committee, comprised of BOCES Technical Services staff and individual district personnel, identifies and evaluates equipment for use in school districts as updated and replacement items. Equipment is selected and purchased based upon cost, ease of use, reliability and service/repair considerations.

Distance Learning

The Junction is the region’s two-way, fully interactive, full-motion video and audio system which uses fiber-optic cable and telecommunications to connect specially designed classrooms in participating districts. The network allows teachers and students in different locations to communicate visually and verbally, enabling the interactive delivery of academic instructional courses and educational programming.

Instructional Media Services

The Instructional Media Center provides teacher support materials in 12 different formats to infuse excitement, stimulate learning, and spark students’ interest in their lessons. Media Center materials can be scheduled for delivery to the schools throughout the school year, based on teacher requests.

Instructional Technology

Links are provided to technology web sites. Forms are available for use by BOCES staff to obtain Technology Service, E-mail and Internet Access.

Printing/Production Services

The BOCES Print Shop provides a variety of services to assist in printing needs of component districts, including photocopying, offset and digital printing, plus layout and design services.

School Library System

The School Library System is a state-funded program that coordinates sharing of library services in participating K-12 public schools, nonpublic schools, public library systems, and post-secondary institutions. BOCES also offers additional services which districts may purchase, for sharing library resources in a planned and cost-efficient manner.

Technical Repair Services

The Technical Services staff provides component districts with equipment repair and maintenance, recommendations for purchase and use of such equipment, and technical assistance with in-district wiring and cabling.

Technology Support

BOCES staff members work with participating district staff to support the implementation of district technology plans and goals. Shared staff maintain hardware, install software and provide general troubleshooting assistance.
